“He Has Taken Bullets For Me!,huyu ni mtu wangu”: Ruto Heaps Praises on Ichung’wah

President William Ruto has heaped glowing tributes on Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, describing him as a dependable leader and a loyal brother.

Speaking during the funeral of Mzee Isaac Ichung’wah Ngugi, the father of the National Assembly Majority Leader, Ruto said Ichung’wah has stood with him in ways few others ever have.

“I want to thank the parents of Ichung’wah. Through them, I have gotten this man Kimani, who is more than a friend — I have gotten a brother,” the President said.

Ruto praised the MP for carrying many burdens on his behalf, adding that his courage and resilience have made him a leader not just in Kiambu but across the country.

“In Kimani Ichung’wah, we have a great leader, without any fear of contradiction. He has taken many bullets on my behalf, and I will stand by him the same way he has stood with me,” he affirmed.

The President also paid tribute to the late Mzee Ichung’wah, celebrating him as a man of resilience who raised a well-respected family.

“Let us believe in ourselves the same way Mzee Ichung’wah did. He pushed the bounds and the limits, and today we celebrate a great man,” Ruto said.

Ruto was joined by First Lady Rachel Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, senior government officials, and other leaders at the burial ceremony in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. Mzee Ichung’wah passed away on September 5, 2025, aged 105 years.
