Gachagua: An army of 300 civilians, comprising ex-KDF soldiers and Kenyans have offered to guard my homes

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that retired soldiers have volunteered to provide security for his homes and offer private protection.

Speaking on Inooro TV’s Kiririmbi show on Sunday, Gachagua alleged that his official security detail has remained withdrawn since the consecration and installation of Bishop Peter Kimani Ndung’u in Embu County on November 16, 2024.

The former deputy president revealed that after his impeachment, he was assigned a reduced security team comprising six officers—four stationed at his residence and two acting as private security. He now says that retired officers have stepped in to guard his homes, citing concerns over alleged assassination attempts on his life.

“I am currently being guarded by retired officers who volunteered to protect me. Some of them served in the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), while others were in the Kenya Forest Service (KFS),” he explained.

Gachagua further noted that the overwhelming support he received came after a particular incident in Limuru, where around 300 people from various regions came forward, offering their services to ensure his safety.

“When they saw what happened to me in Limuru, about 300 people sought me out and volunteered to guard my homes. Above all, God is watching over us. He remains the ultimate head of all security forces,” he affirmed.
