Falling stone from a construction site hits man to death in Pangani

A tragic incident occurred in Pangani area, Nairobi, resulting in the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a stone falling from an upper floor of a house that was under construction. The victim, Kevin Gikundi, was simply walking past the residential construction site when the stone descended from the twelfth floor and struck him on the head. Sadly, Kevin died immediately at the scene, before the police were notified.

Following the incident on June 30 in the afternoon, the authorities promptly transported Kevin’s body to the mortuary for an autopsy and further investigation. As a precautionary measure, the construction site was temporarily closed while awaiting a thorough probe.

The Nairobi police boss, Adamson Bungei, stated that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Such occurrences have been occurring more frequently, emphasizing the need for action from contractors to address safety concerns for both construction workers and pedestrians.

In response to the incident, officials from the National Construction Authority were summoned to the site to contribute to the investigation. Additionally, the police and county government officials are conducting their own inquiries into the matter.

In a separate tragic incident in Nairobi’s Korogocho slums, a man named Julius Kimani Ndungu lost his life in a fire. Julius, who had been unwell, was sleeping in the house when the fire broke out, resulting in his unfortunate demise. His wife had left for a nearby shopping center, but upon hearing people screaming for help, she discovered that it was her house that was engulfed in flames. The fire had already claimed Julius’ life by the time his wife arrived.

Shortly after the locals managed to contain the fire, the police arrived at the scene and transported Julius’ body to the mortuary. The police are currently investigating the incident while the circumstances surrounding the fire are being examined.

Meanwhile, in Kasarani, Nairobi, authorities are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found on the roadside. The man, believed to be around 30 years old, was discovered partially unclothed, with visible injuries to his head. It is suspected that the victim was murdered at the scene on the night of July 1 when the body was discovered. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The incidents described are deeply saddening, and the authorities are working diligently to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
