Eric Wamumbi has claimed that Senator Edwin Sifuna was interested in securing the Interior and National Administration docket in President William Ruto’s government, suggesting that this is the reason behind Sifuna’s strong criticism of the administration.
Speaking during a political event, Wamumbi alleged that some opposition leaders are frustrated after missing out on key government positions they had hoped to obtain. However, he did not provide direct evidence to support the claim that Sifuna formally sought or was promised the Interior Security role.
Sifuna, who has been a vocal critic of the government, has consistently maintained that his position is guided by his party’s policies and his oversight role as a senator. He has not publicly responded to Wamumbi’s remarks.
The exchange has sparked debate among supporters from both sides, as political tensions continue to shape conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections in Kenya.
