According to police reports, a taxi driver was paid Ksh 500 by an unidentified man to transport what he believed was a parcel to a recipient in Kangari. However, when the alleged recipient failed to collect it, the driver decided to hand over the package to Kangari Police Station.
Upon inspection, officers were shocked to discover the body of a woman wrapped in blankets, clothing, and a sack. The remains were transferred to a local mortuary, where they were preserved pending postmortem.
The deceased was later identified as Hannah Wanjiku, a 53-year-old mother of six who had separated from her husband and was living in Njiiris village, where she worked as a casual laborer.
A government pathologist at Murang’a Level 5 Hospital revealed that Wanjiku had been strangled to death. The postmortem indicated she suffered severe force that broke her trachea, cutting off oxygen supply to the brain.
DCI detectives have since arrested four suspects, who are assisting with ongoing investigations.
The gruesome killing has sparked shock and outrage, with Kenyans taking to social media to send condolences to the family and demand thorough investigations to uncover the motive behind the murder.
