Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, who is aspiring for a parliamentary seat in Lang’ata, recently shared some previously undisclosed details about his relationship with Jeff Koinange, a news presenter at Citizen TV and his former co-host.
During an interview with Lynn Ngugi, the host of Kiss 100, Jalang’o clarified rumors of a fallout between him and Jeff Koinange. He disclosed that the two are best friends, emphasizing their strong bond by recounting an extravagant birthday gift from Koinange – a Swiss watch from Audemars Piguet valued at over Sh3 million.
Addressing the speculation about a rift, Jalang’o explained that certain misleading clips circulated online were actually part of a skit they had done together. He expressed the ongoing friendship between them, highlighting that they frequently visit each other’s homes and maintain regular communication.
Reflecting on their professional collaboration, Jalang’o spoke about the initial skepticism surrounding their partnership, considering their diverse backgrounds. However, he revealed that their show turned out to be a huge success. He acknowledged Koinange’s upbringing and his own rural roots, attributing the magic of their collaboration to the unique blend of their life experiences.

When discussing his transition from Hot 96 to Milele FM, Jalang’o shared that his friend and brother, Alex Mwakideu, approached him with an offer after resigning from Radio Maisha. Despite the success of their two-year stint with Jeff, Jalang’o chose to work with Mwakideu at Milele FM, citing their close bond.
Jalang’o also disclosed that his decision to leave Hot 96 for Milele FM wasn’t without opposition. Fred Afune, his boss at Royal Media Services, reportedly disapproved of the move, and Jalang’o hinted that there might still be lingering resentment.
In July 2018, Jalang’o bid an emotional farewell to Jeff Koinange in a heartfelt message, expressing gratitude for their partnership and acknowledging Koinange’s role in boosting his confidence and career. Despite the departure, Jalang’o conveyed his confidence in Koinange’s ability to continue excelling.
