Political commentator Gaucho has sparked debate after issuing a strong warning to Nairobi residents over the possibility of electing Babu Owino to lead the city.
In his remarks, Gaucho compared Babu Owino to former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, claiming Sonko is more approachable and willing to resolve disagreements through dialogue.
According to Gaucho, Sonko is the kind of leader who can be criticized but later call someone to talk things through “like men” without escalating the situation because he has compassion. He contrasted this with Babu Owino, whom he described as highly emotional.
Using a metaphor, Gaucho claimed Babu Owino is the kind of person who would look for a mosquito in the house using an M16 rifle, suggesting he may react excessively to criticism.
Gaucho went on to caution Nairobi residents against electing leaders he believes may be too sensitive for public office. He warned that if people think William Ruto is tough, they should wait and see what would happen if Babu Owino were to take charge at City Hall Nairobi.
His remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with supporters of Babu Owino dismissing the criticism while others have engaged in debate over the leadership qualities needed to run the capital.
