Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come under sharp criticism from Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, who accused him of orchestrating violence at a church in a bid to attract public sympathy. Speaking on the incident, Kindiki claimed that the attack was deliberately planned and manipulated to create a narrative of victimhood, rather than being a spontaneous or isolated event.
Kindiki warned that using such tactics to gain political advantage is irresponsible, particularly when it endangers innocent lives and disrupts public order. He emphasized that leaders must prioritize the safety and well-being of citizens over political point-scoring, stressing that staging incidents for sympathy undermines trust in both governance and leadership.
The CS’s remarks have intensified public debate over the Othaya church incident, highlighting concerns about political manipulation, accountability, and the ethical responsibilities of elected officials. His intervention underscores the expectation that political leaders act with caution and integrity, ensuring that partisan ambitions do not compromise the security of communities.
