Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made strong remarks about his role in President William Ruto’s rise to power, claiming he was instrumental in securing Ruto’s presidency.
Speaking during a public gathering, Gachagua said, “Kama sio mimi Ruto hangekuwa president wa Kenya. Vile nilimfanya akakuwa president, hivo pia ndio nitamtoa na hakuna kitu mtafanya!”
His remarks have sparked sharp reactions across the political divide, with supporters interpreting them as a show of political strength, while critics accused him of undermining the presidency and escalating internal tensions within the ruling coalition.
Political analysts say the comments point to growing strains within the Kenya Kwanza alliance and could signal deeper power struggles ahead of future political contests. The statement has also fueled intense debate on social media, with many Kenyans questioning its implications for unity and stability within the government.
