Controversial Nairobi pastor James Ng’ang’a has once again sparked debate after criticizing what he described as the commercialization of Christianity. Speaking during a church service, Ng’ang’a claimed that many churches today are driven by pride and obsession with material gain rather than genuine faith.
He faulted preachers who, according to him, focus almost exclusively on financial breakthroughs, saying the message of salvation has been replaced by promises of wealth. Ng’ang’a also questioned the authenticity of churches that claim to offer divine healing while still stationing ambulances outside their premises.
“How can you preach healing and still park an ambulance outside the church?” he posed. The outspoken cleric insisted that faith should not be mixed with fear, adding that death is inevitable and cannot be avoided by appearances of spirituality. He maintained that he would never buy an ambulance to display outside his church, arguing that life and death are ultimately beyond human control.
His remarks have triggered mixed reactions online, with some praising his blunt honesty while others accuse him of being insensitive.
