My name is Richard Kato, and I come from Masaka, Uganda. For many years, people around me thought I was just unlucky, but deep down, I knew something was not normal. Every chance that came my way would disappear just when I was about to succeed. Whether it was a job interview, a business idea, or even simple plans to travel, everything always failed in a strange and painful way. The more I tried to push forward, the more life pushed me back. I lived with stress, shame, and constant fear of the future.
Growing up, my father, may his soul rest, was a tough man. Whenever he got angry, he would speak heavy, painful words. I never understood the power of those words until he died. He used to tell me things like, “You will never prosper,” or “Your life will always be difficult.” At that time, I did not take them seriously because he said them in anger.
