In recent days, Kenyans on TikTok have shown their compassionate side, coming together to help transform the life of a fellow creator. Mama Gift has been documenting her life struggles caring for her ailing baby.
The trend began when TikTokers uplifted Kaluma Boy, alias Vincent Kagwi, and his family. TikTokers were moved after he consistently shared his story of caring for his father, who suffered a stroke over a year ago, and decided to do more than just visit their humble home in Othaya, Murang’a County.
Their efforts culminated in a grand thanksgiving ceremony at Bishop Muthee Kiengei’s JCM Church on Sunday, October 5, where the family received multiple gifts, including land and over KSh 2 million in cash. Their lives changed forever.
Following this, TikTokers, together with Bishop Kiengei, announced their next act of charity would focus on another popular TikToker, Mama Gift.
Who is Mama Gift? Mama Gift, like Kaluma, has earned a loyal following by documenting her struggles caring for her ailing baby in their modest home in Gathoge, Embu County. She is a single mother, and her son was born with severe cerebral palsy, chronic asthma, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal issues, and convulsions. Her videos showcasing her caregiving journey have drawn the sympathy and support of many TikTokers and Kenyans as a collective.
Will TikTokers visit Mama Gift? According to Bishop Kiengei, TikTokers will visit Mama Gift on October 26. He will lead the entourage and has arranged for transportation for those who cannot afford fare, including ten buses, with three being provided by his church. The Bishop also encouraged well-wishers to support Mama Gift by donating at the church, assuring that all contributions would reach the family.
What did Mama Gift say about TikTokers visiting her? On her TikTok, Mama Gift warmly welcomed those planning to visit and even shared directions for those planning to attend.
“Thank you so much for considering me. I know there are so many people out here who need help, and I do not take this for granted. May God bless you and open doors for you to help others. God has decided to use you to assist people who are struggling. The hand that gives is the hand that receives. You are all welcome to visit Baby Gift, it will be a big day for us,” she said.
