Police are actively pursuing three armed robbers who attacked a motorist near a bridge along Old Kijabe Road in Lari, Kiambu County on the night of November 27, 2024. The gang, armed with machetes and a pipe wrench, ambushed the victim after blocking the road with a log. The robbers threatened the man with death before forcing him to reveal his Mpesa PIN and robbing him of KSh70,000, a Samsung Galaxy S22, and several credit cards.
The victim managed to escape after noticing another vehicle approaching, using the opportunity to flee to the nearby Rift Valley Academy. Security personnel at the school alerted local authorities, leading to a swift response. The victim was escorted safely home by officers from Kijabe Police Station. Despite a search of nearby thickets, the suspects remain at large.
Detectives from the DCI Lari sub-county are investigating the crime and following up on potential leads in the hunt for the perpetrators.
