Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o and currently serving as a Lang’ata Member of Parliament, recently revealed that he had been dismissed from the ODM communications team. In an exclusive preview of his upcoming interview with NTV, Jalang’o expressed his surprise at the decision, stating that he believed he had done nothing to warrant such action.
“When it comes to effective communication, I have been removed. Therefore, even if the party has any issues they want me to address, I won’t be aware of them,” he stated.
When questioned about whether he felt like he had betrayed anyone, the newly elected MP responded by saying that he did not perceive himself as a traitor.
He asked, “Whom have I betrayed?”
Jalang’o is one of nine ODM MPs who have openly defied the party and formed alliances with President William Ruto. The other MPs include Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Paul Abuor (Rongo), and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda.
During their most recent meeting with President Ruto, the group reaffirmed their loyalty to the Kenya Kwanza government and pledged to continue collaborating with Ruto.
On July 4, Jalang’o emphasized their commitment to supporting Ruto in a tweet, stating, “Our decision to work with HE William Ruto was not a mere gimmick! We will support the President, and we must support the President!”
Subsequently, on July 5, the ODM Management Committee resolved to initiate the formal expulsion process for the rebel MPs from the party. The committee also decided that, due to the expected lengthy legal battles, the expulsion process would begin from the grassroots level, as outlined in the ODM party Constitution.
