President William Ruto has come out strongly in support of vaccinating livestock, terming it essential for ensuring disease-free animals. According to the president, opposing such a crucial exercise is not only unreasonable but also an act of sheer ignorance. He emphasized that vaccinations are a cornerstone of protecting livestock health, which in turn boosts the agricultural sector and ensures food security for Kenyans.
Addressing livestock keepers, President Ruto cautioned them against being swayed by leaders who oppose such initiatives. He described such opposition as being driven by an “evil spirit” that seeks to derail progress in the country. These leaders, he said, tend to criticize every policy and program, regardless of its benefits to the people. Such negativity, the president argued, should not be entertained, especially when it comes to matters as critical as livestock health.
The president further encouraged farmers to embrace the vaccination program as part of their responsibility to improve their herds’ productivity and reduce economic losses caused by diseases. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting livestock keepers through access to vaccines and other agricultural resources, urging unity in the fight against destructive influences that threaten Kenya’s development.
