Family and friends of 23-year-old Ann Muthoni Ngunjiri are calling for justice following her tragic death in Kayole, Nairobi.
Muthoni’s body was discovered inside her apartment by her roommate, Lucia Wambui. According to police reports, she had sustained serious stab injuries that authorities believe led to her death. The incident has left residents of the area shocked and grieving.
Witnesses say Muthoni was last seen in the company of her boyfriend, Benson Mutiso, a General Service Unit (GSU) officer. The two reportedly returned home in the early hours of the morning after spending time out together.
Lucia recounted the heartbreaking moment she found her friend. Initially, she assumed Muthoni was asleep. However, when she tried to wake her, she realized something was wrong and immediately raised the alarm.
Friends of the deceased described her relationship as troubled, alleging that it was marked by frequent disagreements. Some claimed there had been previous incidents of conflict between the couple. One close friend said she had previously advised Muthoni to reconsider the relationship, expressing concern about ongoing disputes.
The apartment’s caretaker, Gakii Nyaga, also confirmed seeing the couple shortly before the incident. He stated that Mutiso had assisted Muthoni into the house that night.
During investigations, police recovered a kitchen knife believed to be linked to the incident. Authorities also found an identification card belonging to another individual said to be associated with the suspect. Investigators are examining whether the item was intentionally left behind.
Police have since named Mutiso as the main suspect and launched a search operation to locate him. Meanwhile, Muthoni’s family and friends continue to mourn her loss, urging authorities to ensure that justice is served.
The tragic case has once again sparked conversations about the importance of addressing relationship conflicts early and seeking help when warning signs appear.
