Peter Kaluma lectures Ndindi Nyoro -He should go for benchmarking in Homa Bay Town Constituency, I am alredy turning it into Singapore

Kiambu Senator Peter Kaluma has taken a swipe at Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, questioning the latter’s criticism of education initiatives in the constituency. Kaluma argued that Nyoro’s statements are misplaced, given the scale and impact of programs already being implemented in Homa Bay Town Constituency.

Speaking during a recent public engagement, Kaluma highlighted the progress being made in Homa Bay Town, jokingly stating that he is “already turning it into Singapore” through extensive development initiatives. He criticized Nyoro for focusing attention on a handful of bursaries provided to mixed day school students, while publicly condemning programs that support day, boarding, tertiary, and university students.

“You give bursary to a handful of Mixed Day School students only, yet you go making noise all over the media at people educating Day and Boarding students, tertiary and university students!” Kaluma said, emphasizing that efforts in Homa Bay Town have far-reaching benefits for learners at all levels.

The senator’s remarks have ignited public discussion on the role of MPs in education funding, the visibility of their initiatives, and the challenges of balancing public relations with meaningful impact. While some Kenyans praised Kaluma for defending his constituency’s achievements, others argued that constructive criticism among leaders is necessary to ensure accountability and maximize educational opportunities for all students.

This exchange underscores the broader debate on educational development in Kenya, highlighting the different approaches MPs take to support learners and the importance of transparency and scale in public initiatives.
