“Natumia matatu kuenda job” – Mulamwah explains why he doesn’t have a car

Digital content creator David Oyando, also known as Mulamwah, recently discussed his decision not to own a car. In a candid interview, Mulamwah shared that he currently doesn’t possess a car and prefers using public transportation.

In his own words, Mulamwah explained, “Bado sijanunua gari ju bado sijaona importance sana ya kuwa na gari, mimi hupanda matatu kuenda job, kama ni meeting ya heshima ndio nachukua cab…sipendi pressure ya life,” which translates to, “I haven’t bought a car yet, I still don’t see the importance of having a car, I ride a matatu to go to work, if it’s an honor meeting I take a cab… I don’t like the pressure of life.”

During a Q and A session on Instagram, Mulamwah addressed questions from fans. When asked about his cars, he responded that he doesn’t own any vehicles and solely relies on matatus for transportation.

Another curious follower inquired about the rent Mulamwah pays in Nairobi, to which he replied, “Only Ksh 10,000. Why are you asking?”

In a different context, Mulamwah shared a glimpse of his nearly completed two-storey mansion, revealing that he had invested KSh 8.5 million in its construction.

When confronted with the perennial dilemma of whether to buy a car or build a house first, Mulamwah likened it to the age-old debate of Messi versus Ronaldo. He emphasized the subjective nature of financial decisions, encouraging people to spend their money wisely as long as they avoid misuse.

Regarding Mulamwah’s income streams, he estimated his net worth at around KSh 4 million. He also disclosed an investment in approximately 10 bodabodas in Kitale, his hometown, where riders contribute KSh 500 daily, generating roughly KSh 150,000 from the motorbikes.

However, Mulamwah acknowledged the challenges in his business, such as the theft of one of his motorbikes near Kitale Stadium. Seeking public assistance, he urged social media users to share information that might help recover the stolen vehicle.
