A philanthropist from Narok County has demonstrated remarkable kindness to a young girl he encountered hawking bananas by the roadside.
Peace Ambassador Joshua Ole Kaputah shared with TUKO.co.ke that the girl, Idah, a Grade Six pupil, was selling bananas to raise money for her school supplies. Deeply moved by her story, Ole Kaputah took it upon himself to provide the necessary support. He not only purchased all her school supplies but also paid her school fees for the term. “The girl is in Grade Six. She has been hawking to make money, but I sent her back home, paid her school fees for this term, and will be visiting her home to assess the situation further,” he said.
The circumstances surrounding Idah’s roadside hawking were revealed in a video shared on Facebook. In the video, Idah explained to Ole Kaputah that she was selling bananas to help her mother and to save money for a tracksuit and books required for school. Idah disclosed that her mother is blind, which is why she undertook the task alone.
Touched by her plight, the philanthropist not only ensured that Idah had the school supplies she needed but also bought a tracksuit and shopped for her mother. He then sent Idah back home, relieved of the burden of hawking.
Ole Kaputah mentioned that his commitment to supporting needy children motivated him to help Idah. “When God shows you mercy, show mercy to others. I met her selling bananas to assist her blind mother and to raise money for her uniform and books. I thank God I was able to help by paying her fees, buying books and clothes, and providing some food,” he said.
This act of generosity is one among many by Ole Kaputah, who has dedicated himself to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in the community.
