Mudavadi warns ODM-Don’t make a mistake of leaving government because of petty issues. Mkitoka mtalia sana.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has cautioned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party against making what he termed as an “emotional and costly mistake” by threatening to walk out of the government.

Speaking during a public function, Mudavadi warned that ODM leaders should carefully weigh their decisions, reminding them that politics is about strategy, not emotions.

“Don’t make a mistake of leaving government because of petty issues,” Mudavadi said. “Mkitoka mtalia sana, na kuna watu wako tayari kuchukua hiyo nafasi mbio sana.”

The Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasized that Kenya’s political environment is highly competitive and that opportunities in government are never left vacant. He urged ODM to maintain cooperation and focus on delivering development rather than engaging in unnecessary political conflicts.

Mudavadi’s remarks come amid growing tension within the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio alliance circles, with sections of ODM members expressing dissatisfaction over alleged sidelining in government appointments and policy influence.

Political analysts have interpreted Mudavadi’s warning as both a strategic message and a subtle reminder that political positions are earned and easily replaced. His statement also highlights the delicate balance between coalition politics and individual party interests as the country moves closer to the 2027 general elections.

As debates continue within ODM over its future political direction, Mudavadi’s comments may serve as a reality check for leaders considering a fallout with the government.
