Introducing the individual asserting a remarkable claim of abstaining from the restroom, ‘Haja Kubwa,’ for an astounding 13 years. The poignant account of Saidi, hailing from Rwanda, has stirred emotions as he recounts enduring an enigmatic ailment that has bedridden him for over a decade, rendering him incapable of defecating despite his regular intake of food and fluids….CONTINUE READING
Once a breadwinner working as a driver, Saidi’s life took a drastic turn in 2010 when he was afflicted by an unusual illness, leaving him incapacitated.
According to his wife, Zamuda, Saidi’s health deterioration began humorously, with an inability to defecate for gradually prolonged durations. This seemingly trivial matter eventually escalated, and now, after 13 years, Saidi has not experienced a bowel movement.
In his own words, Saidi shared, “My name is Rwakagambo Saidi, I have spent 13 years without visiting the toilet. In other words, I have never been able to defecate despite eating every day like everyone else, but when it comes to passing stool, I only pass urine,” recounting his astonishing journey to the Afromax blog.
Saidi embarked on a quest for a diagnosis in early 2010, seeking medical attention at various health centers. However, all tests proved inconclusive, leaving him with unexplained pain, fatigue, and baffling symptoms despite the absence of overt signs of illness.
Undeterred by these setbacks, Saidi sought alternative remedies from traditional healers, yet his efforts proved fruitless. “I was a driver before; I worked to feed my family, and everything was fine until I got this sudden illness. I started spending a long time without passing stool, it turned into days, and now it’s been 13 years,” he lamented.
His wife, a mother of four, tirelessly took him to multiple hospitals, only to face disappointment as some doctors dismissed the condition as mere hunger. “The doctors told me it’s just hunger, and he needs to eat,” revealed Zamuda.
Initially receiving support from neighbors, their assistance dwindled over time due to the prolonged nature of Saidi’s illness. Undeterred, Saidi lies on a mat, exposed and shielded from the sun, holding onto a faint hope of a return to normalcy.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, an individual unable to defecate may suffer from fecal impaction when the digestive system fails to function properly.
