Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe is widely recognized both locally and globally for his significant role in helping the world combat the deadly COVID-19 virus. While Kagwe is known for his past roles as a Member of Parliament, senator, and former minister, he is also regarded as a highly responsible and influential figure in his community.

He is married to the accomplished Anne Wanjiku Kagwe, who has her own impressive achievements. Anne is the youngest daughter of the late John Michuki, the former Internal Security Minister. Her family, which includes several siblings, was embroiled in a battle over Michuki’s substantial inheritance following his passing.

Together, Mutahi and Anne have four children: Kagwe, Njoroge, Nyawira, and Kahumburu. Anne is 59 years old, while her husband is 62. In her professional life, Anne founded Soko Letu Ltd. and serves on the boards of Transcentury Ltd. and Biashara Factors Ltd. She has held leadership positions in various organizations, including serving as the Chairman of the Women Enterprise Fund, Chairman of the Association of Micro Finance Institutions, and Chief Executive Officer of Jitegemee Trust Ltd. Additionally, she has been the Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Ltd.

Anne Wanjiku is also an academic achiever, having earned an MBA from the University of Cape Town and an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University. Currently, she serves as a special advisor to President Uhuru Kenyatta on matters related to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
