Kenyan Marathoner Chepkoech Handed A 7 Year Ban For using prohibited substance

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has handed down a seven-year suspension to Josephine Chepkoech, a Kenyan athlete, following her violation of anti-doping regulations by using the banned substance, testosterone.

The ban, effective as of May 7, 2024, also entails the disqualification of her results dating back to February 18, 2024.

Chepkoech, known for her remarkable achievements, notably clocked a personal best marathon time of 2:22:38 in February of this year during the Seville Marathon.

Her marathon journey began in 2018 at the Nairobi Marathon, where, at the age of 35, she showcased her dominance with an impressive time of 2:33:11.
