A man from Nyamira County has found himself in serious trouble after authorities punished him heavily for keeping his Friesian cow in a deplorable and unhygienic environment.
According to reports, the man had been neglecting the animal for a long time, forcing it to live in poor conditions without proper shelter, hygiene, or medical care. Concerned locals reported the matter to authorities, who swiftly intervened.
Upon inspection, the officers were shocked by the state of the cow and decided to take immediate action. The man was arrested, taken to the police station, and later fined Ksh.50,000 for animal neglect and cruelty.
The authorities also confiscated the cow, which was later transferred to a safer and more conducive environment where it is now receiving proper treatment, vaccination, and nutrition.
Officials confirmed that the animal will remain under care until the owner proves he has built a clean and healthy shelter that meets acceptable animal welfare standards.
“The cow is currently recovering well and is under veterinary supervision,” said one officer. “The owner has been instructed to improve the living conditions before he can reclaim the animal.”
