Kenyan artist Ssaru wa Manyaru has consistently expressed her firm stance on dating and relationships. In a recent interview with Mungai Eve, Ssaru asserted that she is unwilling to date a financially insecure man, even if they share a deep emotional connection.
During the interview, Ssaru disclosed that she had been in a relationship with a man who, upon revealing his financial instability, prompted her to end the association. She revealed that he not only failed to meet certain financial responsibilities but also made her cover expenses that she felt were not her responsibility. Recognizing her preference for a partner who can provide financial stability, Ssaru emphasized her decision to part ways, citing her lack of inclination towards being an understanding girlfriend in such situations.
Furthermore, Ssaru outlined a significant requirement for any potential suitor, stating that she expects a dowry of Ksh 1 Billion. This financial expectation was reiterated in a subsequent interview with Plug TV, where the Kaskie Vibaya hitmaker emphasized that any amount below the specified figure would not be considered. Despite her openness to the idea of settling down, Ssaru conveyed that she is in no hurry to do so. Instead, she hinted at the possibility of the dowry amount increasing over time.
She explained, “Let me clarify, I want to communicate this to my current partner, but at the moment, marriage is not my immediate plan. I prefer to wait for a few more years. However, it’s worth noting that every year, the specified dowry amount increases – it’s set at a billion shillings, and it continues to escalate each year.” Ssaru’s remarks suggest a deliberate and evolving approach to her expectations in relationships, emphasizing financial stability as a crucial factor in her romantic pursuits.
