Kakamega Man hacks father to death in quarrel over napier grass for Cows

A 30-year-old man was arrested after he hacked his father to death in a quarrel over napier grass in Eregi village, Kakamega county.

Police said the incident happened in Kaluni village and left one Christopher Lubutze Shikokoti, 68, dead.The deceased had questioned his son why he was cutting his napier grass without his permission.This angered the son, who picked up a hammer that he used to hack the old man, killing him, his neighbours and police said.

Police said the assailant also used a rungu in his mission.The old man was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries.The suspect was later arrested for questioning over murder, police said.Police visited the scene and recovered the hammer, rungu, a green pipe and a white vest with blood stains.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.Elsewhere, a man was found dead after being hacked by his girlfriend in a domestic fight in Tegat area, Bomet county.Police identified the deceased as Emmanuel Kiprono, 26.

He had deep cuts in the back of his head when the body was found in his house on October 6, police said. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital, police said.The motive of the attack was not immediately established.Police said a relative of the deceased had called seeking help after finding him bleeding and unresponsive.

The girlfriend who was in the house with the deceased was missing, and efforts to trace her are ongoing, police officials said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.Such murders have been on the rise in the region amid efforts to solve the cases, police said.In a different incident, a teenage boy was found dead in a bush after a suspected murder in Nyandorera area, Siaya county.

Police said the body of the 17-year-old boy had deep cuts on the hands and legs, and there were marks of strangulation on his neck.Police said the boy had stepped out of their house on October 7, 2025, after being called by a neighbour and failed to return. His body was found about 50 meters from their house.

Police were called to the area later on and rescued a 40-year-old man accused of the murder.The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said they are investigating the murder and motive.
