What began as an act of revenge ended in ruin for David Njoroge Chege, a man from Nakuru County who is now serving a 15-year prison sentence after a bitter fallout with his second wife.
Speaking in an emotional interview with Simon Kibe on Jamba TV, Chege recounted how persistent conflicts in his marriage led him to make a drastic and regrettable decision. In a bid to “teach his first wife a lesson,” he chose to marry a younger second wife—hoping it would spark jealousy or bring change. Instead, it brought chaos.
Almost immediately, his new marriage began to unravel. Constant arguments erupted over property, including a bicycle and some goats the second wife falsely accused him of stealing. What started as petty quarrels quickly escalated into legal battles. His second wife filed multiple complaints against him, ranging from theft to more serious allegations.
Despite maintaining his innocence, the law caught up with him. Chege was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years behind bars. From prison, he now reflects on his choices with heavy regret. “I thought I was fixing my problems,” he said. “But I only made them worse.” His story stands as a powerful warning: using relationships to seek revenge rarely ends well—and sometimes, the price is freedom itself.
