Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka has launched a sharp attack on Kisii Governor Simba Arati, accusing him of neglecting county affairs.
In a fiery statement, Onyonka claimed that Arati is “a part-time Kenyan resident and full-time Chinese resident,” suggesting that the governor spends too much time outside the country instead of focusing on local development.
The senator went on to declare that “help is coming” and vowed that Kisii County would “reclaim its lost glory in 2027,” signalling early political mobilisation ahead of the next general election.
The remarks have sparked debate within the county, with Arati’s supporters dismissing the claims as political rhetoric, while critics argue that leadership accountability remains a key issue for residents.
The exchange highlights growing tensions among Kisii leaders as succession politics and performance records begin shaping the 2027 conversation.
