Kenyan forex trader Sammy Boy has fired back at popular comedian Flaqo after a viral skit seemingly suggested that some forex traders in Kenya resort to selling their bodies to raise trading capital.
In the clip, Flaqo used his signature humor to portray the struggles of “broke traders,” but the joke didn’t sit well with Sammy Boy. Taking to his social media, the outspoken trader accused Flaqo of tarnishing the image of hardworking forex traders with what he called “disrespectful and damaging” content.
“This is why people look down on forex traders. We make our money through skill and discipline, not the nonsense you are showing,” Sammy Boy wrote, adding that such portrayals mislead the public about the realities of trading.
The skit has since gone viral, with Kenyans divided over the matter. While some defended Flaqo, insisting comedy should not be taken too seriously, others sided with Sammy Boy, arguing that the joke crossed a line and unfairly painted the industry in a bad light.
As the online debate heats up, it’s clear that this clash between laughter and livelihood has struck a nerve in Kenya’s social media space.
