Nominated Senator Crystal Asige delivered an emotional tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during the Linda Mwananchi rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi.

Speaking before a large crowd on Sunday, September 13, Asige remembered Raila as a leader who created opportunities for Kenyans and remained committed to the country’s political struggle.

She described Raila as a complex but influential leader who was willing to put the interests of the country ahead of personal power.

Asige also recalled Raila’s final public messages to his supporters, saying he encouraged ODM members and Kenyans to make political decisions based on their convictions and put ordinary citizens at the centre.

She told the crowd that Raila’s message should continue guiding those who took over his political responsibilities.

Asige questioned whether Raila’s political successors were learning from the challenges they faced and whether they were willing to share the burdens of ordinary Kenyans.

She urged political leaders to place the interests of wananchi above personal disagreements and political differences.

Her remarks came as Linda Mwananchi supporters gathered at Jacaranda Grounds following a political procession through several parts of Nairobi.

The day’s activities began with a church service at All Saints Cathedral before the convoy moved through areas including Marikiti, Gikomba, Burma Market and Jogoo Road.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino were among the leaders who addressed supporters during the mobilisation.

The rally took place as political activity continues to increase ahead of the 2027 General Election, with different political groups seeking to build support across the country.

Asige’s tribute placed Raila’s political legacy at the centre of the Jacaranda gathering as Linda Mwananchi leaders continued their efforts to mobilise supporters in Nairobi.
