Cleo Malala demolishes Wanga-Kwa Matanga ya Ong’ondo Were Gladys Wanga alilia kuliko hata wajane, karibu hata aanguke kwa vumbi, lakini kwa matanga ya Raila hakutoa machozi!

Former Kakamega Senator Cleo Malala has launched a sharp attack on Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, questioning her loyalty to ODM party leader Raila Odinga by contrasting her conduct during two high-profile funerals. Speaking publicly, Malala accused Wanga of displaying selective emotions depending on political convenience.

Malala claimed that during the burial of the late Ong’ondo Were, Wanga was visibly emotional, allegedly crying more than the widows and at one point nearly collapsing to the ground. According to him, the show of grief was intense and dramatic, drawing the attention of mourners and the wider public.

However, Malala contrasted this with what he described as a striking absence of emotion and commitment during Raila Odinga’s moment of loss. He alleged that Wanga did not shed tears during Raila’s family bereavement and went further to accuse her, alongside Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, of failing to travel to India to view the body of their party leader of over 20 years.

In his remarks, Malala also criticized ODM’s top leadership for what he termed as political haste and insensitivity, claiming that instead of mourning, they quickly called a press conference, appeared cheerful, and immediately moved to replace Raila within party structures. To him, this behavior exposed what he sees as hypocrisy and opportunism within the party’s senior ranks.

The comments have sparked heated reactions, with supporters of Malala arguing that loyalty should be demonstrated consistently, especially in moments of personal loss. On the other hand, ODM allies have dismissed the claims as politically motivated attacks aimed at discrediting Wanga and weakening the party’s unity.

Malala’s statements once again underline the deep cracks within Kenya’s opposition politics, where personal loyalty, public symbolism, and political survival often collide. Whether his accusations resonate with the public or are brushed off as partisan rhetoric, they have undoubtedly reignited debate about sincerity, leadership, and values in Kenyan politics.
