Peter Salasia blasts Sifuna-“Mimi na Sifuna hatuko level moja, mimi ni Presidential material, yeye anataka kuwa SG. Hii Mkutano ya Sifuna Kitengela ilikuwa sponsored na serikali”

Political temperatures continue to rise after Mumias East MP Peter Salasya launched a sharp attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over recent political events.

Speaking to supporters, Salasya dismissed comparisons between the two leaders, boldly declaring that they are not on the same level politically. He described himself as “presidential material,” while claiming that Sifuna’s ambitions are limited to party administrative roles. His remarks appeared aimed at projecting himself as a national figure rather than a regional or party-based politician.

Salasya also alleged that a recent political meeting in Kitengela associated with Sifuna had state backing. According to him, the gathering was sponsored by government interests, claiming that tear gas was deployed after the event concluded. However, no official confirmation has substantiated these allegations.

In his characteristic outspoken style, Salasya further stated that he would not associate himself with what he termed “low-level” political meetings. The comments reflect the increasingly personal tone that has characterized recent exchanges among opposition leaders, especially as political alignments begin to shift ahead of future elections.

The public spat underscores the widening cracks and rivalries within Kenya’s broader opposition space. As leaders position themselves for greater national roles, internal competition appears to be intensifying just as much as criticism directed at the government led by President William Ruto.

Observers note that such exchanges may energize supporters but could also expose divisions that weaken collective political bargaining power. With the country’s political season gradually taking shape, statements like these suggest that ambition, strategy, and influence battles are already in motion.
