My name is Samuel Muwonge, born and raised in a small village near Lwengo District, Uganda. Growing up, I was known as the “church boy” because I spent most of my childhood in church activities, helping pastors, singing in the youth choir, and doing all the small things that made me feel close to God. People in my village believed I would become a pastor one day. But even with all the faith and prayer I had, life treated me harshly. Nothing I touched ever succeeded. I remained broke, struggling, and stuck in the same place for many years.
After finishing school, I moved to Masaka Town to look for work. I tried everything—being a shop attendant, selling second-hand clothes, doing boda boda—but nothing worked. Every business I started collapsed quickly, even when I put all my energy and savings into it. While my old school friends were progressing in life, I remained stuck in the same circle of poverty.
