Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stirred fresh controversy after accusing former President Uhuru Kenyatta of misleading the country about President William Ruto’s true character.
Speaking during a charged political event, Gachagua claimed that Uhuru failed to properly warn leaders and citizens about what he now describes as Ruto’s “real behaviour.” According to him, had Uhuru been honest from the beginning, Kenya would not be facing the current political and economic challenges.
“Uhuru Kenyatta ndiye alifanya makosa. Hakutueleza vizuri tabia ya Ruto, otherwise hatungekuwa kwa hii shida,” Gachagua declared.
He went further to criticize Uhuru’s 2022 political decision, saying the former president worsened the situation by supporting Raila Odinga instead of choosing another candidate.
“Halafu pia angetafuta mtu mwingine, sio Raila Odinga,” he added, drawing mixed reactions from the crowd.
Gachagua’s remarks have intensified the political blame game within Kenya Kwanza and revived debates surrounding the bitter fallout between Uhuru, Ruto, and their former allies.
