Political commentator and youth activist Kasmuel has hit out at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of constantly attacking President William Ruto instead of focusing on his duties as a leader.
Speaking during a public discussion, Kasmuel said, “Wewe Sifuna, wacha kusumbua Rais Ruto! Kama umechoka na ODM, basi jiuzulu. Baba alituacha ndani ya Broad-Based.”
The outspoken activist criticized Sifuna for what he described as unnecessary political drama and personal attacks that do little to help ordinary Kenyans. He argued that the senator should instead direct his energy toward constructive leadership and supporting initiatives that benefit citizens.
Kasmuel’s remarks come at a time when tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) appear to be rising, following growing debates about the party’s direction and its relationship with the government. His reference to “Baba alituacha ndani ya Broad-Based” implied that Raila Odinga, the ODM leader, had chosen to support dialogue and collaboration under the Broad-Based government framework, rather than constant political confrontation.
Political observers see Kasmuel’s comments as part of the emerging divisions within ODM, with some members supporting Raila’s reconciliatory tone while others, like Sifuna, continue to take a hard stance against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The latest exchange highlights the ongoing internal struggle within the opposition as it seeks to redefine its strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
