Bungoma Eating Competition: Wamalwa Stuns Crowd After Eating 2kg Ugali and 1kg Omena in 10 Minutes

Residents of Marakaru in Bungoma County were recently treated to an unusual spectacle when a local man, identified as Wamalwa, showcased his extraordinary eating ability during an annual food contest.

In the competition, which takes place every year during the tea plantation season, participants are served a freshly prepared hot meal in an open field as curious spectators cheer them on. This year’s challenge saw contestants tackle 2 kilograms of ugali and 1 kilogram of omena — a feat that tested both speed and endurance.

Wamalwa emerged as the champion after devouring the entire meal in just 35 minutes, leaving onlookers stunned. His victory earned him a unique prize: free fertilizer and tree seeds to support his future farming efforts.

Speaking after the contest, Wamalwa downplayed the challenge, saying that finishing the hefty portion was “no big deal” for him. He expressed excitement about his win and declared his interest in participating in more eating competitions, describing it as a pastime he genuinely enjoys.

His remarkable performance left many amazed at his ability to consume such large quantities of food in such a short time. For Wamalwa, however, competitive eating seems to be more of a talent than a struggle.
