“Simjui ni nani Huyo”: TZ Journalists Shocked as Sean Paul Denies Knowing Diamond Platnumz, Komasava Song

Renowned Jamaican musician Sean Paul recently left Tanzanian journalists stunned when he revealed he is unfamiliar with Diamond Platnumz, one of Tanzania’s most celebrated artists.

In a brief interview shared online, Sean Paul was asked if he knew Nasib Abdul, popularly known as Diamond Platnumz. To the surprise of many, the dancehall star stated that he had never heard of him.

“Do you know Diamond Platnumz?” a journalist asked.
“I don’t know him,” Sean Paul responded.

The interviewer then inquired about Komasava, a viral Bongo Flava hit linked to Diamond Platnumz. Once again, Sean Paul denied any knowledge.

“I don’t know the Komasava song, but I am here for love. About music, I don’t know any Bongo Flava songs,” he said, leaving the press visibly shocked.

Open to Collaboration

Despite his unfamiliarity with Tanzanian artists and their music, Sean Paul expressed interest in collaborating with Bongo Flava musicians during his stay in the country.

“I’d like to work with some Bongo Flava artists because music brings people together, and I appreciate it,” he added.

Reflecting on Tanzania After 20 Years

This visit marked Sean Paul’s return to Tanzania after two decades. During an exclusive interview with Clouds FM, he shared his admiration for the country’s growth and cultural richness.

“I missed the culture, the social lifestyle, and the serene environment,” he remarked.

He noted significant economic development, highlighting how areas that once lacked infrastructure now boast modern buildings and well-maintained highways.

Sean Paul’s remarks stirred mixed reactions among fans and journalists, sparking conversations about the global reach of Tanzanian music and its artists.
