On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, two individuals were apprehended in connection with an attempted robbery at the Soroti branch of Equity Bank, located in Eastern Uganda.
The incident unfolded when a group of unidentified armed individuals raided the bank premises on Tuesday morning, initiating a hostage situation involving the security personnel stationed at the bank.
Prompt intervention by law enforcement authorities swiftly countered the robbery attempt, leading to the arrest of two suspects at the scene.
As reported by the Daily Monitor, the apprehended individuals include a security guard employed by a private security firm and their supervisor.
Furthermore, to ensure public safety and restore order, the police cordoned off nearby roads while military personnel worked towards normalizing the situation.
