Kenyan comedian Sammy Kioko has opened up about the struggles that forced him to shut down his once-promising clothes design business. In an emotional revelation, the popular entertainer said he has “lost everything” after years of hard work due to unpaid debts owed by the Machakos County government.
The award-winning comedian shared a video showing an empty workshop with idle sewing machines and no employees in sight. In his post, Kioko wrote that the financial strain had become unbearable, leading to the closure of his fashion business. “I’ve lost everything,” he captioned the video, expressing the pain and frustration that comes with seeing a dream collapse.
According to Kioko, his business suffered a major setback after the county government allegedly failed to pay him for services he rendered. This delay in payment crippled his operations, leaving him unable to sustain staff salaries or pay rent for his business premises. Several of his employees were left jobless following the shutdown.
The comedian admitted that the situation has been emotionally draining, but he remains hopeful that one day he will rebuild from the ruins. “It’s painful to see everything I worked for come down, but I still believe God has a plan,” he said.
Sammy Kioko’s story reflects the challenges many small business owners in Kenya face, especially those who depend on government tenders and contracts. Delayed payments or bureaucratic inefficiencies can easily collapse even well-established ventures, forcing entrepreneurs into financial distress.
Fans have flooded his social media pages with encouraging messages, urging him not to give up. Many praised him for his resilience and transparency in sharing his struggles publicly.
As he takes time to reflect and recover, Kioko says he plans to focus on rebuilding his comedy career while strategizing on how to revive his fashion dream in the future. His journey serves as a reminder that success in business is never guaranteed—and that even in moments of loss, hope and determination can light the way forward.
