Drama in Kitale as a fully grown man chose violence against common sense and decided the best way to raise school fees for his child was by hugging a tree.

Drama unfolded in Kitale after a man seeking school fees for his child resorted to an unusual protest by clinging to a tree in a public area, drawing the attention of residents and local leaders.

According to witnesses, the man claimed he was protesting inadequate support to raise school fees for his daughter. Upon learning of the incident, the area Member of Parliament intervened and sent KSh 50,000 to enable the child to be admitted to school. However, the man reportedly dismissed the amount as insufficient and refused to leave the tree, insisting he deserved more assistance.

The situation dragged on until evening, attracting a crowd and causing tension in the area. Later, local youths intervened to disperse the gathering and bring the standoff to an end. The man was eventually removed from the scene and taken for medical attention.

Fortunately, the child was admitted to school and has since resumed learning without further disruption. Meanwhile, the father is receiving treatment at Kijana Wamalwa Referral Hospital in Kitale following the incident.

Authorities have urged members of the public to seek lawful and peaceful ways of resolving grievances, warning against actions that may endanger lives or public order.
