Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has criticised Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of being too arrogant and warning that his attitude could affect his political ambitions.

Speaking during an interview on September 8, 2026, Elachi said Sifuna has a promising political future but needs to change the way he relates to other people.

She said Sifuna has become increasingly popular and has the potential to rise to higher political positions. However, she argued that his personality could become a major obstacle if he does not embrace humility.

Elachi urged the senator to remain humble as he continues building his political career. She also compared his approach with that of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whom she described as a leader who was down-to-earth and avoided arrogance.

According to Elachi, Sifuna should learn from Raila’s leadership style and focus on doing what is right as he seeks to advance politically.

She also questioned whether Sifuna’s ability to attract large crowds would automatically translate into votes during elections.

Elachi said the Nairobi senator needs to turn his growing public following into actual electoral support if he wants to achieve greater political success.

Her comments come amid growing criticism of Sifuna from some political figures.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi recently accused Sifuna of being full of himself and unwilling to listen to advice. Amisi also linked the senator’s leadership style to disagreements within the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Busia Woman Representative and ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo has also criticised Sifuna, describing him as a “know-it-all.”

Omanyo claimed that while serving as ODM Secretary General, Sifuna often preferred to handle responsibilities himself instead of delegating them to junior officials.

The criticism places renewed attention on Sifuna’s leadership style as he continues to build his political profile ahead of the 2027 General Election.
