United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar Hassan has sharply criticised former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of mismanaging the country during his time in office.
In a strongly worded statement, Hassan Omar claimed that Kenyatta left Kenya burdened with heavy debt and alleged that his continued public remarks are adding to political tensions. He further urged the former Head of State to exercise decorum and humility in retirement.
“You messed up our country while in office, and you are still doing the same out of office,” Omar said, adding that Kenyatta’s legacy remains a subject of intense debate.
The comments reflect the ongoing political rivalry between leaders aligned to the ruling party and those associated with the previous administration. Supporters of the former president have previously defended his record, pointing to major infrastructure projects and economic reforms undertaken during his tenure.
The exchange highlights the persistent political divisions in Kenya, with past leadership decisions — particularly on public debt and economic management — continuing to shape national discourse.
