Businesswoman Esther Migwi has come out strongly in defense of James Opande, criticizing activist Mosiria for allegedly using a viral video case for personal and political gain.
Speaking publicly, Migwi urged men to stop misjudging Opande, stating, “Wanaume acheni ujinga na mtetee Opande. Huyu msichana ndiye alikuwa analilia mrija… Wewe Mosiria, achana na huyo boychild. Immigration unaenda kufanya nini?”
Migwi’s comments suggest she believes the case has been blown out of proportion and exploited to settle scores or gain attention. She argued that the incident should not be used to shame or humiliate individuals, emphasizing the importance of context and responsible public discourse.
In her statement, she also highlighted broader societal concerns, pointing to the way viral videos are sometimes used to judge people without understanding the full story. She said such actions can unfairly target men and women alike and create unnecessary public backlash.
The remarks have sparked online debate, with Kenyans discussing issues of accountability, privacy, and the ethics of sharing or reacting to viral content. Many have praised Migwi for her outspoken stance, while others have questioned her defense of Opande, reflecting the polarizing nature of cases involving social media scandals.
This episode underscores ongoing tensions in Kenya around social media behavior, public shaming, and the responsibility of both activists and the general public in handling sensitive situations.
