A murder case in Kirinyaga East has sparked national concern after detectives arrested three men believed to be linked to the death of Jackline Waruguru Kathuri.
Police reports indicate that Jackline’s body was found on November 22 in Ninga-ini village following a distress call made to Kiamutugu Police Station. Officers who responded to the alert found her with severe injuries. The body was moved to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
Following the discovery, detectives launched an intensive manhunt. Through forensic leads, officers arrested the main suspect, Collins Muchira Ngege. He later led investigators to two more suspects, identified as John Brian Kimotho Kamau and Stephen Muchiri Karani. All three are currently in custody as investigations continue.
According to preliminary investigations, Jackline had left her home on November 16 and did not return. Detectives believe she was attacked and dragged into a nearby thicket, where she sustained fatal injuries. Police say the suspects will be arraigned once the investigation process is complete.
Residents of the area have expressed shock over the incident and are calling for swift justice. Authorities have reassured the community that the matter is being handled with urgency and that those responsible will be held accountable.
