Ni kubaya” Uhuru Kenyatta Faces Fresh trouble After Farouk Kibet’s Warning to Quit Politics

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is once again in the political spotlight after a series of remarks and actions reignited tension between him and close allies of President William Ruto.

Just days after Farouk Kibet, one of President Ruto’s key aides, publicly warned Uhuru to stay away from politics, new pressure has mounted against the former head of state, with several leaders accusing him of meddling in government affairs.
Farouk had recently cautioned Uhuru against what he described as “inciting politics” and fueling divisions among Kenyans despite having officially retired from office. He urged him to emulate past presidents who kept a low political profile after leaving power.

The warning appears to have triggered a wave of criticism from within the Kenya Kwanza camp. Some leaders claim Uhuru is using his influence to interfere with the government’s agenda and stir opposition politics instead of embracing retirement.
Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot is among those who have echoed Farouk’s sentiments, urging Uhuru to “be a gentleman” and avoid engaging in active politics, saying doing so undermines the dignity of a former president.

Political analysts believe the growing hostility towards Uhuru signals deeper political rifts ahead of the 2027 General Election. They argue that Kenya’s political landscape remains sharply divided, and Uhuru’s continued involvement may complicate efforts to stabilize relations between the government and the opposition.

As pressure mounts, Uhuru finds himself at a crossroads — whether to step back from politics and maintain the statesman image of a retired president or continue asserting his influence in national affairs.
Either way, the former president’s next move will be closely watched as the country inches toward another heated election season.
