A man died on Thursday after falling from a tree he was trimming in Thambiro, Meru County.
Police said the victim, Mutembei Muthoi, had been contracted to cut trees in the village when he slipped and fell. He sustained severe fractures on his legs, hands, and facial injuries that caused heavy bleeding. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
In Marsabit County, six police officers were injured after the vehicle they were traveling in overturned in Kalacha, Maikona area. Authorities said the team was heading from Marsabit to Maikona when the driver lost control and rolled into a ditch. The officers were rescued and taken to Marsabit County Hospital, where doctors confirmed they were in stable condition.
Meanwhile, in Dandora, Nairobi, a 16-year-old boy died after falling off a moving lorry. Police reported that the teenager had jumped onto the lorry without permission but lost his grip and fell, after which the same truck ran over his head, killing him instantly. His body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said the accidents raised the day’s death toll to 13 people, including five passengers, four pedestrians, two riders, a driver, and a pedal cyclist. At least 19 others sustained serious injuries.
Elsewhere, in Konza, Machakos County, a man was stoned to death before his body was set on fire. Police said they were alerted to the incident and found the charred remains at the scene. The motive of the attack remains unclear. The body was taken to the mortuary for identification and further investigations.
