People’s Party of Kenya leader Ndindi Nyoro has called for urgent government action to improve security in Isiolo County following a deadly attack in Gotu that left five people dead.

Nyoro made the call on Thursday, September 17, 2026, during a visit to Isiolo, where he met residents and local leaders amid growing concern over insecurity in the area.

The five victims were killed on Wednesday after a team pursuing suspected livestock thieves was attacked in Gotu. The victims included two officers from the Anti-Stock Theft Unit, a member of the National Police Reservists and two civilians.

The incident has renewed concerns over banditry and cattle theft in Isiolo and neighbouring counties. Local leaders have called for stronger security measures to protect residents and prevent further attacks.

Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo has also urged national security agencies to increase patrols and intelligence gathering in Gotu and surrounding areas. He said repeated attacks were creating fear, disrupting livelihoods and affecting peace in local communities.

Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo separately called for immediate intervention in Gotu, describing the area as a security hotspot.

The latest killings come amid several reported cases of livestock theft and bandit attacks in parts of Isiolo and neighbouring counties.

Nyoro’s visit comes as residents and local leaders seek stronger government action to address insecurity and protect communities affected by repeated attacks.

The calls for intervention are expected to increase pressure on national security agencies to strengthen their response and prevent further loss of life in the region.
