A young woman who identifies herself as Moreen on TikTok has shared an emotional account of the challenges she is facing while pursuing her education at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
In a video shared on TikTok on Thursday, Moreen appealed to well-wishers and Kenyans to come to her aid, saying she has been struggling to raise money for her education and basic needs. Watch The Video Here
According to Moreen, she lost both of her parents seven years ago, leaving her without the support she once depended on. She said a guardian who had been helping her later stopped the support, telling her that she was now grown and needed to find a way to depend on herself.
Moreen explained that after completing her secondary education, she joined KMTC with hopes of building a better future. However, life became difficult because she did not have someone to consistently support her financially.
She alleged that some male teachers took advantage of her vulnerable situation by making unwanted demands in exchange for financial assistance.
Moreen said she eventually found herself accepting such situations because she felt she had no other option to survive and continue with her education.
However, she said she has now reached a point where she is tired of depending on such arrangements and is pleading with Kenyans to help her clear her school fees and meet her basic needs.
The student became emotional while explaining her situation and said she fears she may not be able to complete her studies without assistance.
She also made worrying remarks about ending her life if she does not receive help, leaving many people concerned about her wellbeing.
Her emotional appeal has since attracted attention online, with some Kenyans calling for well-wishers to intervene and help the student continue with her education.
Moreen’s story has also sparked conversations about the difficulties faced by students who lack parental or financial support while pursuing higher education.
