National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has given an encouraging update on the health of Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi.
Wetang’ula said he was pleased to host Wanyonyi in his office on Thursday, September 3, 2026, and was encouraged to see the lawmaker looking stronger and in good spirits.
The Speaker described Wanyonyi’s recovery as a source of hope, praising his determination and strength during his prolonged illness.
Wetang’ula also wished the MP continued recovery and expressed hope that he would soon regain more strength and return fully to his parliamentary duties.
Wanyonyi has been away from active parliamentary duties for an extended period after experiencing health complications.
In December 2025, Wetang’ula revealed that the Kwanza MP had spent about a month at Nairobi Hospital before doctors recommended that he travel to India for specialised treatment.
Wanyonyi was later treated and underwent rehabilitation at KIMS Health Care Management Limited in Kerala, India.
During a visit to the facility in January 2026, Wetang’ula said the medical team had confirmed that Wanyonyi was responding well to treatment and rehabilitation.
The legislator later returned to Kenya following his treatment abroad.
In May 2026, Wetang’ula told Parliament that Wanyonyi was continuing with speech therapy after returning to the country.
The latest update from the Speaker suggests that the veteran legislator has made further progress in his recovery.
Wetang’ula expressed hope that Wanyonyi would continue improving and eventually return to serving the people of Kwanza and participating fully in parliamentary activities.
