Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has launched a fierce attack on former Kitui Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu over her reported opposition to calls for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to take charge as the overall leader of the Azimio One Kenya Coalition.
In a strongly worded statement shared on Facebook, Wambua accused Ngilu of hypocrisy, saying she had openly rejected proposals seeking to have Kalonzo recognised as the coalition’s overall leader.
According to the senator, Kalonzo is a man of integrity who deserves an opportunity to lead the country and become Kenya’s next President.
Wambua further told Ngilu to stop what he described as hypocrisy, warning that he would not allow what he termed the former governor’s “2022 shenanigans” against Kalonzo to happen again.
The senator appeared to make it clear that he would stand firmly behind Kalonzo, regardless of the position taken by other members of the Wiper Party.
Wambua also issued a stern warning to Ngilu, saying that people who know her well would address the matter with her directly and without holding back.
His remarks have added fresh fuel to what appears to be growing political tension between the two Kitui leaders as the country heads toward the 2027 General Election.
The disagreement comes at a time when the race for the Kitui gubernatorial seat is already attracting attention. Wambua is positioning himself as a potential candidate for the seat in 2027, raising the possibility of a direct political showdown with Ngilu if both seek the Wiper ticket.
Ngilu, who previously served as Kitui Governor, remains an influential figure in both Wiper and Azimio political circles.
The latest exchange could therefore point to deeper disagreements within Wiper as the party prepares for the 2027 elections. With Kalonzo’s political future and coalition leadership becoming increasingly important, loyalty to the Wiper leader could become a major factor in the party’s internal politics.
